SOPA is a largely illiberal policy. America is really pushing "Liberalism" to the edge with this one. But what do I know, I'm just a Canadian?
Lets keep up to date with what's going on with SOPA in this forum.
And Go!

SOPA's a bad deal all around. I understand the general good intentions of reducing piracy and stuff, but no one should have the power to shut down any website they want. It's a pretty good thing that, as a Canadian, you're still paying attention, because people don't understand that what happens to American companies and websites affects them as well if they use said websites.
Yeah!

Plus, most streaming companies that are worldwide are based in the United States. So Canadians will be affected also, along with most of the world. Except, maybe North Korea, but who knows what's going on there.

I don't think Best Korea gets internet. Kim Jong Il did, though. Called himself an "internet master". He was the guy.

For now. Hopefully, we won't see it again. It was a stupid idea.

Yeah, but I won't be surprised to see more things like SOPA to come. The internet is growing immensely, and it's definitively not going to get any smaller. Government is just looking out for what's ahead, imo.

Well, I mean, the bill was originally against piracy. Its only backers were record companies, SOME musicians, and the MPAA. As a person who's pirated before, I understand that it's wrong and I wouldn't complain if something were to be done about it. But a bill that gives congress the right to say, "youtube? nah." Makes me feel a little weird. Don't like it. Smells funny.

It will never pass. 1) because the court systems would be backed up forever and the government would have to put a ton of money into it. 2) also technically things like (pirate bay) arnt illeagle (in some country's) so why should we ban it? 3) we will all hate the government lol
